Compress images
Make photos and graphics smaller for websites, email or messengers. The image keeps its format and dimensions; only the encoding is optimized. JPGs are encoded with MozJPEG, PNGs are reduced with palette quantization, WebP and AVIF are re-encoded at the quality you choose.

Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Photos from phones often shrink by 40–80%. Images that were already optimized may barely change – in that case you get your original back unchanged instead of a larger file.
Does compression change the image size in pixels?
No. Width and height stay the same. Use the resize tool if you also want smaller dimensions.
Is PNG compression lossless?
Not below quality 100. PNGs are converted to an optimized color palette, which can slightly change colors in gradients. Quality 100 keeps PNGs lossless.
