Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will the file be?
File size is roughly proportional to bitrate. A 320 kbps MP3 converted to 96 kbps becomes about 70% smaller.
Is 64 kbps enough?
For speech yes, especially in mono. For music choose 96–128 kbps or higher.
Does mono save space?
At the same bitrate mono does not reduce size, but it lets you use a lower bitrate with similar quality for speech.
